2001 Ford Mondeo Sunderland

There's a 'Quickclear' screen to shift winter morning condensation, an easily adjustable air conditioning system, and a radio with both a proper volume knob and steering wheel controls. Start the engine and the 125bhp 1.8 litre is at least a lot quieter than the old model in Sunderland.

207 GT THP 150 Long Term 2 Sunderland

Bought for £6,400 brand new. Sold for £6,200. Changed the oil every 3,000 miles. Ran it in carefully at varying revs on the newly opened M25. First big run Wimbledon to Newhaven, then Dieppe to Zaragoza. 900 miles in a day.

Abarth 500 (2008 - ) Sunderland

Good: Huge fun. Completely transforms the 500 into an eager little sportscar with great handling and steering feel.
Bad: By far the best on 16" tyres. Loses feel on 17". Essesse kit faster but less fun.

Abarth 500 Road Test Sunderland

The Abarth 500 in Sunderland has 135bhp compared to my 1.2's 69. And, frankly, that would be terrifying in the basic Panda chassis my 500 is lumbered with.

Abarth Grande Punto (2008 - ) Sunderland

Good: Quick, decent handling hot hatch with lots of front end bite and good steering 'feel'. Low CO2 and good economy. Drives better than Alfa MiTo.
Bad: Harsh ride on Britain's pockmarked urban streets. Essesse kit expensive for a car that's okay as it is.
