The interior would have to be spacious with lots of oddments to store safely, personal effects. To be quite honest, I am not a huge fan on complicated in-car gadgetry. A decent CD player and air conditioning will suffice.
Good: Cheap, roomy and perky enough around town. Easy to get in and out of.
Bad: Only four seats. Unrefined on the open road. Lacklustre handling and ride.

Good: Small, tall 5-door city car clone of Suzuki Splash. makes best sense in 1.0 petrol and 1.3 diesel low emission versions. Much better than old Agila.
Bad: Okay, but no better than a Hyundai i10, yet costs more money and has a shorter warranty.

Good: Strong engines and comfortable ride. Power steering on all models from 1995. Estate was the most practical in its class when new.
Bad: Poor front-end grip in corners. Saloons are just plain ugly. Worn suspension. Engines aren't immune from problems.

Good: The 2.2. is brisk in a straight line, the Turbo extremely rapid and the better overall drive. Convertible looks smart.

Inside, the feeling of cabin space and depth is augmented by a centre panel mounted at a shallow 30-degree angle that sweeps down from the top of the instrument panel to the centre console, creating a flowing surface that incorporates the gearshift.
It's obvious that the new Astra is going to give the New Focus a harder time than the old Astra ever gave the old Focus. The old Astra was a worthy car with decent handling, but it looked like a hamster compared to the sporty Focus.

Bit different, this one. I’d expected something like a Berlingo Multispace with windows in the back. Or, at least, windows beside the rear passenger seat. But, to comply with medieval British Customs and Excise regulations, the Combo Crewvan they sent me came with sheet steel rear windows.
Good: Very spacious, honest, Berlingo-style transport. Better looking than most.
Bad: Prices are on the high side.

Good: Fairly capable off-road. Cheap.

New big Vauxhall on GM 'VE' chassis in Coventry shared with next Holden Monaro and American models which may include Pontiac and Cadillac. BMW 5-Series size and price. Engines from 2.0 petrol turbo to 6.0 V8; 1.9 CDTI to 3.0 V6 diesels. Photo is 2003/2004 showcar. In production with a completely different look as 2007 Vauxhall VXR.
Good: Roomy, easy-to-drive, five-seat mini MPV. Sliding rear seats fold into the floor. VXR is nearly as quick as a hot hatch.
Bad: Wipers set up for left-hand-drive cars. Don't handle reassuringly at speed. All should be recalled for dangerous power steering fault.

Shown as concept at March 2008 Geneva Motor Show, likely for prtoduction in 2009. Innovative FlexDoors system consists of rear-hinged rear doors that swing open toward the back of the car. As the B-pillars have been purposely retained for passive security reasons, the Meriva Concept’s front and rear doors can also be opened independently of each other.
Good: Masses of performance for the money. Wonderful rear-drive handling. Well equipped. VXR 6.0 gets 4 stars.
Bad: Pity its looks aren't as exciting as the drive.

Good: Plushly equipped alternative to an executive saloon. Versatile rear seating, stacks of room and some decent engines. Cheap to buy.
Bad: Lacks the driver satisfaction and image of a proper executive saloon. V6 TDI is oddly tardy. ESP is too intrusive.

Good: Large MPV with two sliding rear side doors. Strong V6. The 2.2 diesel makes more sense, despite a lack of lowdown pull.
